CLUELESS Home Office officials granted asylum to a dinghy migrant from Afghanistan — then did nothing when he went back there on holiday.

The man, who uses the name DG Usama and travelled 5,000 miles to Kabul, filmed himself arriving here in 2022.

He later posted videos of his return plane trip from his home city via , writing alongside the video: “Back to UK.”

Last night the launched an urgent into his status in the UK after being alerted by The Sun.

Officials had apparently been oblivious to the history of his case when he waltzed in and out of the country.

Shadow Justice Secretary said the case showed the Government was “naive”.

Usama first entered the UK on a packed dinghy in April 2022, one of that month.

He panned the camera to show others waving and pointing as they crossed from Calais.

He wrote in the video’s caption: “Alhamdulillah (praise be to God) now I am in UK.”

The migrant then posted a second video, set to , showing his craft being rescued by an cutter boat.

In a third video from his dinghy, he declared: “This is the Afghan tigers!”

Throughout 2023 the man posted videos from UK landmarks including , Canary Wharf, Brighton beach and the white cliffs of Dover.

It is unclear exactly when he won asylum but it was between April 2022 and his apparent holiday in 2024.

He told UK officials his Taliban-controlled homeland was too dangerous to return to.

In September 2024, Usama posted a video of the best bits from his apparent July-August break.

A series of six videos shows a convoy of and cars on a road trip around scenic Takhar, in north west Afghanistan.

He also posted a 30-second clip from , a natural park dubbed the nation’s “Blue Heart”.

Set in the Hindu Kush mountains the Unesco-nominated site has six deep-blue lakes formed by natural dams and is known for its crystal-clear waters.

It attracts nearly 200,000 visitors a year, and lets tourists swim or take a boat out on the water.

Usama posed aboard an orange raft with outboard motor available to hire for around £1.50 an hour.

Swan-shaped pedalos can also be hired at the beauty spot.

Usama was filmed brushing his hand against the water and captioned his video with love hearts.

It features a snap from his plane window as it prepares to land in , followed by a clip from inside the city’s airport.

Usama also posed wearing Emirates-branded headphones aboard the flight back to .

He should never have been allowed back into the UK after he apparently holidayed in Afghanistan.

A week later, he posted again from Rotherhithe, South East — proving he had returned to Britain.

Further posts show he appears to have remained in London since his apparent holiday.

Usama has also shared videos of French cities , Calais and Annecy.

And he posted from and Bulgaria, where he was involved in pro-Afghanistan marches at around the same time as the retook control of Kabul in 2021.

It proves he had reached at least three safe nations before choosing to continue his journey to the UK.

Last night, sources said his status in Britain was being reviewed and, if his holiday is proven, he may be stripped of his refugee travel card.

Government guidelines prohibit asylum seekers or those allowed to stay after making a claim from returning to their home country.

A Home Office rulebook states that those with a valid refugee travel document “can usually travel to all countries except the country you’re from (and) any country you sought from”.

If Germany are regularly removing illegal migrants from Afghanistan back home, why aren’t we?

Officials say the rules prevent abuse of the system, though last month whistleblowers claimed other Afghans brought to the UK after the evacuation of Kabul have also returned there.

Official Foreign Office advice for Afghanistan tells Brits they must not go there as the security situation is volatile.

A Home Office spokeswoman said: “Whilst we do not comment on individual cases, where there is evidence of someone holding protection status returning to their country of origin, it will trigger a review of their status.”

DG Usama refused to comment.
