President Bola Tinubu hosted a private lunch with Rwandan President Paul Kagame on Sunday, during which the two leaders discussed global issues and strategies to advance Africa’s interests.

A statement from the Presidency, along with photos from the meeting, revealed the leaders seated at an upscale Parisian restaurant, engaged in meaningful conversation over their meal.

“President Bola Tinubu enjoyed a private lunch in Paris with the President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, discussing global affairs and promoting Africa,” the statement noted.

This meeting took place shortly after Tinubu's departure from Lagos to Europe on December 28, 2025, for his year-end holiday.

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, confirmed the trip, mentioning that the President would also participate in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit in early January 2026.

Invited by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Tinubu is anticipated to join global leaders in Abu Dhabi for the summit, which aims to define the future of sustainable development.

Although the Presidency has not specified the European countries the President will visit during his holiday, France and the United Kingdom have traditionally been included in his annual leave plans.
