Officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are working round the clock to offset the six months salaries owed Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro.
Peseiro has not received a single pay check from the NFF, six months after his appointment.
The 62-year-old quit as Venezuela coach in 2021 after a year with no pay.
Under current FIFA laws, the Portuguese can unilaterally terminate his contract, without prejudice, and will have to be paid in full.
The NFF are now working hard to avoid that scenario and will look to pay the former Saudi Arabia coach this week.
“We’ve heard from Mr Peseiro’s representatives that he only received his allowances and bonuses, which is very disturbing,” a prominent NFF official told BBC Sport Africa.
“His salary is being paid by the Sports Ministry but we’ve quickly made an alternative arrangement, in conjunction with the Ministry, to sort the salary payments this week.”
