SUNDERLAND have confirmed plans for another major transformation project at the Stadium of Light this summer.
announced the next phase of upgrades on Tuesday, with improvements planned across both the Stadium of Light and the Academy of Light ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

It marks the third straight summer of major redevelopment work as as a mainstay in the Premier League.
They were promoted last seaosn and a rich vein of form in the first half of the season meant they were never really in danger of going down.
The club said the latest investment reflects its long-term ambition to establish itself among England’s elite both on and off the pitch.
A major part of the project will focus on upgrading stadium infrastructure, including the installation of premium executive boxes designed to improve hospitality experiences for supporters and commercial partners.
Fans attending matches next season will also notice a brand-new LED perimeter advertising system around the pitch.
The new technology is expected to dramatically improve the visual experience on matchdays while also creating fresh commercial opportunities for the club.
Significant work is also planned behind the scenes at the Academy of Light, where Sunderland are investing heavily into elite performance environments for the men’s, women’s and academy teams.
The upgrades will include improvements to training pitches, modernised first-team facilities and the introduction of advanced technology to aid player preparation, recovery and performance.

The club will also completely refurbish office areas inside Black Cat House as part of wider plans to modernise working environments across the business.
said the redevelopment is being supported by a long-term technology roadmap aimed at improving operational efficiency and enhancing supporter experiences throughout the club.
Interim chief executive Tom Burwell said the latest phase of work demonstrates the ownership group’s commitment to building a sustainable and progressive Premier League club.
Burwell explained that the investment is part of a long-term strategy rather than a short-term reaction to their strong seaon in the Premier League.

He said : ” “Following our return to the Premier League, this latest phase of investment reflects both the ambition and long-term vision we have for Sunderland.
“This is not about short-term change, it is part of a multi-year commitment from the ownership group to build a Club that is sustainable, progressive, and capable of competing at the highest level across every area of the business.”
He also highlighted the progress already made over the previous two summers, which included an eight-figure redevelopment programme at the Stadium of Light.
Previous improvements included the introduction of safe standing areas, upgraded PA and lighting systems, a new club shop and ticket office, plus extensive hospitality renovations.
General admission areas were also transformed with refurbished concourses, giant murals celebrating club legends and upgraded food and drink facilities across the stadium.
Sunderland additionally partnered with hospitality company Delaware North to revamp premium experiences inside the ground. That project included the launch of Banks on the Wear and 76 Yards, spearheaded by lifelong Sunderland fan and Michelin-starred chef Tommy Banks.
