The Spanish authorities have been dispatched to Ibiza for the second time in less than a fortnight due to more flooding that has caused chaos on the island.
One local described the situation as “devastating.”
Ibiza Town’s mayor, Rafa Triguero, stated, “All council teams and services are working tirelessly to drain water and restore normalcy as quickly as possible.
“The most important thing is that no one has been harmed.”
He also urged residents to stay indoors if possible and to exercise extreme caution if they needed to travel.
Meanwhile, 24 flights were canceled from late afternoon onwards, with certain areas closed to travellers due to water leaking into the terminal and power outages caused by the rain.
Officials at the Spanish airports authority AENA informed local media: “Due to the adverse weather conditions in Ibiza, airport operations were temporarily suspended.

“During that time, the runway was cleaned along with other areas affected by the storm.”
Twelve of the canceled flights were incoming, and the other twelve were departing, affecting British holidaymakers among others.
Tourists arriving in Ibiza via ferries were photographed stepping into knee-deep water as they disembarked from the boat.
The neighboring islands of Majorca and Formentera also faced challenges.
