The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has confirmed that his declaration of activist Omoyele Sowore as wanted remains in effect, asserting that the police will take all lawful measures to apprehend him.

Jimoh made this statement on Wednesday during an interview on ‘Sunrise Daily,’ a program on Channels Television, which was monitored by DAILY POST.

He mentioned that Sowore had not reported to the police since the declaration and reiterated his determination to pursue the case.

It is important to note that the Lagos CP declared Sowore wanted on Monday for allegedly “disturbing public peace and planning to commit a serious felony by obstructing traffic on the Third Mainland Bridge.”

“My declaration that Sowore is wanted is still valid,” he stated.

According to him, Sowore’s lawyer reached out to him via text message on Monday while he was addressing a riot, and this message was forwarded to the Officer-in-Charge of Legal at the Nigerian Police Force for further action.

“They agreed that Sowore would report to the CID, where the investigation is taking place. The standard procedure in investigations is to complete inquiries before making an arrest,” he explained.

However, Jimoh pointed out that Sowore had not reported to the police as agreed.

“He failed to report throughout yesterday, and we will do everything within the bounds of the law to ensure he is arrested, investigated, and prosecuted for these offenses,” he added.
