SHAKIRA and Gerard Pique have showed up in court to sign their divorce papers following a bitter row over the custody of their children and their £12m mansion.
The Colombian pop star and her ex-boyfriend reached a custody settlement for their two sons after a 12-hour marathon meeting with lawyers.
And the former couple also agreed to sell their five-storey Barcelona property following their shocking split.
Today Shakira and Gerard had to ratify in court the child custody agreement they signed last month, which sees the pop star moving to Miami with sons Milan, nine, and Sasha, seven.
The singer and the ex-football star arrived at Barcelona’s family court No18 separately, both accompanied by their lawyers around 9.30 am.
Shakira arrived first, wearing dark sunglasses in the company of her brother Tonino.
A few minutes later Pique arrived wearing a sports cap, La Vanguardia reports.
None of the two made any statement to the reporters outside the court.
The outlet reports that Shakira entered the building and signed first before her ex-boyfriend.
They both left the building about half an hour later.
The next step of their divorce is to repeat the procedure in the US, where Shakira is planning to move with her children.
Shakira and Gerard released a joint statement following their 12-hour talks for a child custody deal.
It said: “Our sole objective is to provide them with the utmost security and protection, and we trust that their privacy will be respected.
“We appreciate the interest shown and hope that the children can continue with their lives with the necessary privacy in a safe and calm environment.”
The document was signed, “Shakira and Gerard”.
Pique is said to have ceded to Shakira’s wishes to avoid an ugly court divorce battle.
Pique, 35, who retired from football last week after he was sent off as a substitute for Barcelona, is currently living in a penthouse apartment with his new girlfriend, 23-year-old Clara Chia.
Shakira and Pique announced they had split in May following unconfirmed claims Pique was cheating on his long-term partner with a younger woman.
The soccer star’s relationship with 23-year-old Clara Chia emerged shortly after he and Shakira confirmed they were no longer an item.
Shakira appeared to hit out at her ex in a new song she released last month called Monotonia with references to the “narcissism” and “cold as Christmas” attitude of a man she is breaking up with.
It comes as the singer faces separate legal woes over a £13m tax fraud case.
In September, a Spanish court said the singer must face trial over six different charges.
