HUNDREDS of revelers were left embarrassed after showing up to a New Year’s fireworks display that never occurred for the second consecutive year.

Large crowds braved freezing temperatures as they filled Centenary Square last night, eager to welcome in 2026.

Images show locals standing closely together as they awaited the anticipated spectacle.

Videos revealed packed streets of party-goers, phones held high, waiting for the sky to illuminate.

However, the fireworks never materialized for a second year in a row.

Instead, frustrated crowds were later seen leaving the square, with not a single firework in view.

Officers were compelled to intervene, informing bewildered revelers that the event was never scheduled.

Despite West Midlands Police warning that no firework display would occur in the city center.

This marks the second consecutive year the city has faced this embarrassing blunder.

Last New Year’s Eve, thousands also flocked to the same location after online advertisements falsely claimed a fireworks display was planned.

Experts later determined that the misleading posts might have been generated by AI, recycling outdated information from old blog articles that listed the “best fireworks displays” in the UK.

New Year’s fireworks have not been held in Birmingham city center since 2017, yet they continue to be included in compilations of the best displays in the UK.

One advertisement this year stated that the event would run from 8 PM on December 31 to 12:30 AM.

It read: “If you’re celebrating New Year’s Eve in Birmingham, don’t miss the festivities at Centenary Square, which is undoubtedly the largest NYE party in the city.

“At the event, you’ll find street food vendors, an ice rink, and bars to help you celebrate New Year’s Eve 2025.”

Earlier this week, police addressed rumors of a firework display in Birmingham and issued a warning to those planning to attend.

A spokesperson stated: “There are no official firework displays or city-organized events taking place in Birmingham city center on New Year’s Eve.

“Every year, rumors begin to circulate online about significant celebrations in the city. Unfortunately, these false claims often lead to confusion and disappointment.”
