RUSSIA’S somber list of notable deaths has increased once again — this time claiming the individual who once oversaw the Kremlin’s most prominent propaganda outlet.

Vyacheslav Leontyev, 87, the reclusive leader of the Pravda publishing empire, fell 70 feet from the balcony of his apartment in Moscow.

Authorities indicate they are probing whether the death on Saturday night was an accident, suicide, or the result of foul play.

Leontyev was not merely a relic of the Soviet era.

For many years, he directed Pravda — “Truth” — the official voice of the Communist Party and one of the most influential media outlets in the USSR.

Even after the fall of the Soviet Union, he remained at the helm, a man believed to possess knowledge of the party’s hidden wealth.

Exiled journalist Andrey Malgin referred to it as yet another “strange death,” stating: “The window falls continue… Leontyev fell from a window.

“He was discovered near his residence on Molodogvardeyskaya Street, where he lived.”

Malgin, who was acquainted with Leontyev, remarked: “He had the aura of an underground millionaire…

“He was privy to much about the ‘Party’s money’ — the Pravda publishing house was the most lucrative venture in the business empire of the CPSU Central Committee.”

Unverified reports suggest that Leontyev had been suffering from health issues.

However, his fall fits ominously into a disturbing pattern of fatalities among Russia’s elite — a body count that has surged since Vladimir Putin initiated his war on Ukraine.

Last month, the body of former St Petersburg transport chief Alexander Fedotov was discovered outside the five-star Skypoint Luxe hotel at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo international airport.

He had been on a business trip, staying on a “high floor” in the hotel, according to reports.

A criminal investigation is underway, with reports indicating that no suicide note was located.

He was connected to Vladimir Putin’s transport minister Roman Starovoit, 53, whose death in July — officially classified as suicide shortly after Putin dismissed him — remains highly suspicious amid allegations that he had been “tortured” before being “murdered.”
