But the Saudi-backed club have announced that a new safe standing section will be introduced at Leazes End on Level 7 this summer.
The decision to house more than 1,700 fans in the new section has not been a rash one.
The club have been conferring with representation from Wor Flags, the Fan Advisory Board, Supporters’ Trust, as well as other groups in a bid to enhance the matchday atmosphere.
Black and white fans in the current section will not be forcibly kicked out.
But they will have the option of a seat swap.
Everyone has been encouraged to choose their new spot with a “strong vocal presence” in mind.
A Wor Flags survey of nearly 6,000 supporters showed 73.9 per cent felt the atmosphere had declined over the past couple of seasons.
While 69 per cent of fans declared their support for a new dedicated singing section.

Others also said that “being with friends, family or fans with a similar mindset would help create a more passionate and connected atmosphere inside the ground”.
This historic development is one in a wave of announcements from the Mags.
Last week, the club announced in buying the majority of the listed Leazes Terrace building next to St James’ Park.
Newcastle have gone back-and-forth for decades on plans to develop or rebuild their stadium – going all the way back to .
