PREGNANCY is meant to be a truly special time for expectant mothers, but it’s not always as beautiful as it seems.

Despite the images of glowing pregnant individuals with perfect bumps, the reality can be quite different.

A woman takes a mirror selfie while holding her phone up, smiling.Kait appeared unrecognizable months after giving birth to twins. A woman holding a newborn baby in a hospital bed next to a smiling man in a baseball cap.Kait shared her before and after photos on social media.

That’s what one mother, named Kait , discovered when she ended up looking unrecognizable by the time she went into labor.

When she first learned she was expecting, like many people, Kait was likely looking forward to that radiant glow, but her experience was a bit different.

In her posts, Kait shared photos of her appearance “freshly postpartum” compared to months later, and viewers were astonished that the images depicted the same person.

The viral video garnered an impressive 16.9 million views, with astonished viewers exclaiming, “the baby was feeding on your soul!”

The initial photo showed Kait with a swollen nose and no makeup, a stark contrast to her glamorous look months later.

In a follow-up video, Kait explained that she discovered she was pregnant when she was 20 years old.

“My entire pregnancy went very well; I didn’t experience gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, or hypertension—none of those issues,” Kait stated.

Kait gave birth to perfectly healthy twins, but admitted that managing her weight has been a challenge since then.

“It didn’t just fall off immediately,” she mentioned, but fortunately, her swollen face and nose returned to normal.

The surprising before and after photos left TikTok users in disbelief.

One commenter wrote: “Were you allergic to the baby?”

“Pregnancy nose is genuinely one of my biggest fears,” another person commented.

Meanwhile, others humorously suggested that Kait should “sue everyone right now.”

“Pregnancy nose is the worst and a significant confidence destroyer,” someone else added.

It turned out that many other mothers found themselves in the same situation as Kait, and numerous people reassured her not to worry because her nose would likely return to normal after giving birth.

What is Pregnancy Nose?

According to Dr. Christine Greves, an OB-GYN in Orlando, many pregnant individuals do indeed experience ‘pregnancy nose’.

Speaking to TODAY.com , she explained: “The underlying reason is due to increased hormones during pregnancy, which cause dilation of blood vessels, resulting in increased blood flow to certain areas—this is necessary for the uterus.”

And don’t worry; while it may feel strange to see yourself with a larger nose, it is typically harmless for most people and usually returns to normal approximately six weeks after giving birth, she added.
