Pornhub has contacted over 200 million premium users, informing them that their data might have been stolen during this breach.
Reports indicate that hackers are attempting to blackmail the pornography platform after allegedly stealing search and viewing history.
In an official statement, the adult site confirmed that “unauthorized access” was obtained through a third-party data company.
It stated: “We recently discovered that an unauthorized party gained access to analytics data stored with Mixpanel, a third-party data analytics service provider.”
“The unauthorized party was able to exploit this access to extract a limited set of analytics events for certain users.”
Mixpanel, which provides its clients with detailed insights into user data, announced it had experienced a cybersecurity incident on November 27.
The company informed Reuters that it was aware of Pornhub’s statement but indicated that there was no evidence that data had been stolen during the November breach.
