A selection of high-end baby clothing has been urgently recalled due to choking hazards.

Concerns were raised after it was found that there was an issue with the poppers on nine Jojo Maman Bébé garments.

Collage of infant clothing including dresses, dungarees, and rompers, some with floral or animal patterns.

Next has acknowledged the oversight and encouraged customers to return the items immediately.

The affected clothing items include a floral cord dress, floral cord dungarees, a cherry-printed dungarees and top set, a fairy mouse cord dress, and a cord bubble romper and body set.

Additionally, there are concerns regarding the embroidered cord dungarees and top set, a Gruffalo cord romper, and a herringbone dungarees and top set.

Next informed customers: “We have identified products where there is an issue with how the poppers used for fastenings were attached.

“This could result in a part of the popper being accessible, leading to a scratch risk, or for them to detach from the product, which could pose a choking hazard.

“We take the safety of all our products very seriously. Unfortunately, these products did not meet our stringent technical and safety standards, prompting us to issue a recall.

“We sincerely apologize for any concern or inconvenience this may cause. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact our customer service team at 0333 777 8000.”

Meanwhile, Primark has issued an urgent recall for a water toy due to safety concerns.

The high-street retailer announced a recall of their Water Balloon Pump toy after it was found to not meet the usual high safety standards.

They reported a manufacturing defect that could cause the red and blue water balloon pumps to rupture, potentially injuring those using them.

It was explained that when the ‘faulty’ product is used to inflate a balloon, the filling pressure increases and may cause rupture, posing a risk of physical injury to users.

The popular chain shared details of the recall on their website on September 17 this year after the product had been sold between January 2023 and September 2023.

Primark has advised customers to stop using the product immediately and return it to any Primark store without needing proof of purchase.

Another recent recall involves the Evenflo Revolve360 Slim car seats, which present a choking hazard.

It was discovered that children could reach inside the headrest cushion and pull out the foam inside.

Only certain Revolve360 Slim models are affected, specifically those with model numbers beginning with 3681.

The model number can be found on a white label located at the back of the seat's shell, visible when the chair is rotated to the side.

Other versions of the Revolve360 Slim, including those starting with CS2601 or 3682, are not included in the recall.

Your Product Recall Rights

Chief consumer reporter explains everything you need to know.

Product recalls are a vital means of protecting consumers from hazardous goods.

As a general guideline, if a recall involves a branded product, the manufacturer typically bears the primary responsibility for the recall process.

However, it is often up to retailers to inform customers when products may pose a risk.

If you are concerned about the safety of a product you own, always check the manufacturer’s website to see if a safety notice has been issued.

For appliances, rather than just food items, it is generally the customer's responsibility to register the appliance with the manufacturer. If you do not, there is no way for them to contact you regarding any faults.

If you learn that an item you own has been recalled or a safety notice has been issued, follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer.

They should offer more information and a contact number in their safety notice.

In some instances, the manufacturer may request that you return the item for a full refund or arrange for the collection of the faulty product.

You should not incur any charges for recall-related work, such as repairs, replacements, or collection of the recalled item.
