The Commissioner of Police for Niger State, Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, has distributed cheques totaling over N48.9 million to the families of deceased police officers as part of the Group Life Assurance Scheme.
The cheques were presented to 20 families of police officers who lost their lives while serving in the state.
While presenting the cheques to the families at the State Police Headquarters in Minna, the Commissioner of Police stated that this initiative is part of the welfare programs established by the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
Elleman expressed his condolences to the families and emphasized that the payment serves as a token of love in memory of the fallen heroes.
“I urge you to graciously accept this token and pray for God's blessings upon you in your various endeavors,” he advised.

He encouraged the families to view the police command as their second home and to reach out whenever they are in need.
Elleman also clarified to the beneficiaries the steps to ensure that the payments are deposited into their accounts promptly, minimizing any potential issues.
In response, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Salamatu Gambo, expressed her gratitude to the IGP and the police command for their kindness and prayed for God's continued blessings on the police authority and the safety of all officers.
