Abia State Police Command says it has intensified efforts towards the protection of schools, worship centres and other key infrastructure across the State, saying that the policy aligned with the marching orders of the Inspector General of Police.

The Command has also introduced routine registers in schools to sustain and strengthen accountability among officers assigned to such duties and to ensure the officers’ compliance to duties.

The Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa stated this in his office on Tuesday while addressing a crucial security meeting involving traditional rulers, community leaders, Chief Security Officers of companies, tertiary institutions, schools and market leaders.

The CP emphasized that such meetings will be held periodically to obtain feedback on security situations across various communities in Abua and reminded stakeholders of their roles as partners in crime fighting.

He appealed to them to always provide timely information to the Police, while also working closely with their respective DPOs and Area Commanders.

The Commissioner of Police called for reactivation and strengthening of community security watch and urged the stakeholders to avoid the practice of shielding criminals.

The CP admonished stakeholders involved in such acts to desist from them but to contribute meaningfully to safeguarding their environment.

He further assured attendees that both overt and covert security measures have been intensified, adding that residents should expect increased police visibility and operational activities for protection of lives and property.

The various stakeholders expressed appreciation to the CP for this proactive initiative and pledged their full support and collaboration toward achieving his vision of making Abia State safe and secure.
