Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has rejected the order reportedly issued by an Oyo State High Court regarding the national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Fayose labeled it as an insignificant order that no reputable legal institution would adhere to, stating, “It is an Ibadan judicial and political farce created by a judge with a hand-to-mouth approach.”
He emphasized that even the least informed individual in Nigeria understands that a State High Court cannot function as an Appellate Court over the Federal High Court.
In a statement he authored, Fayose remarked, “The judge merely issued a futile order that is effectively dead on arrival. It is an order that no one, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), can comply with.”
He urged the National Judicial Council (NJC) to urgently sanction Justice A.L. Akintola, who issued the ex parte order, despite knowing about the October 31, 2025 ruling from Justice James Omotosho concerning the same issue.
The former governor claimed that “hand-to-mouth judges” are detrimental elements that need to be removed from the judiciary.
He characterized the order as another act of desperation from those who have positioned themselves as the undertakers, waiting to give the PDP a final burial, questioning, “How can one approach a State High Court to obtain an ex parte order directing INEC to oversee a national convention when just five days prior, a Federal High Court ruled that it should not?”
