The Imole Campaign Council, the organisation coordinating the re-election bid of Governor Ademola Adeleke, has claimed that an independent political survey allegedly commissioned by the All Progressives Congress, APC, projected victory for the incumbent governor in the forthcoming Osun governorship election.
In a statement issued by Pelumi Olajengbesi, the spokesperson of Imole Campaign Council on Thursday in Osogbo, the council said it had obtained details of what it described as an internal political assessment reportedly carried out for the opposition party ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship poll.
Olajengbesi alleged that the findings of the assessment showed widespread public support for Adeleke across different segments of the state.
According to him, “The survey reportedly indicated that the governor enjoyed support among civil servants, pensioners, traders, artisans, youths, students, transport workers and grassroots political stakeholders in the state.”
Olajengbesi claimed that the report projected that “Adeleke currently commands more than 72 per cent public support ahead of the election, adding that the margin could increase as the poll approaches”.
“The political assessment reportedly arrived at one painful conclusion for the Osun APC, that Governor Ademola Adeleke is heading towards a massive and decisive re-election victory.”
The campaign council also alleged that the report advised sections of the APC leadership against heavy financial spending on the election, claiming that dissatisfaction with the opposition party remained widespread among voters.
Olajengbesi accused the APC of allegedly resorting to propaganda, intimidation and acts capable of disrupting public peace following what he described as growing concerns within the opposition camp over the election outcome.
Reacting to the claims, the co-chairman of Media (Print) of the AMBO Governorship Campaign Council, Kola Olabisi, denied that the APC commissioned any political assessment that predicted defeat for its candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
Olabisi described the allegation as false and misleading, insisting that the opposition party remained confident of victory in the forthcoming governorship election.
He said, “At no point did the Osun APC commission any assessment that concluded our party is headed for defeat. The so-called report is a fabrication created in the propaganda room of the Accord Party.”
The APC campaign spokesman challenged the Imole Campaign Council to release the alleged report for public scrutiny if it truly existed, adding that residents of Osun State were prepared to vote for the APC candidate in the election.
Olabisi also rejected allegations of violence and desperation levelled against the APC, maintaining that the party remained committed to a peaceful and issue-based campaign throughout the governorship race.
