A CLIMBER has tragically died and two others were injured following a horror incident on the Pembrokeshire coast.

Emergency services raced to the scene at St Govan’s Head on Thursday afternoon after the alarm was raised.

Dyfed-Powys Police said officers were alerted by the ambulance service at 4:25pm amid fears for the welfare of three people on the coastline.

Two casualties were rushed to hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

One person was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious and the victim’s family have been informed.

Rescue teams from Fishguard, St Govan’s and Tenby reportedly rushed to the scene, along with an HM Coastguard helicopter and an Irish Coastguard helicopter.

Wales Air Ambulance and an lifeboat from Angle were also deployed.

St Govan’s Head is famed for its towering limestone sea cliffs and dramatic views overlooking the Irish Sea on the west coast of .

It is located within the Coast National Park, a site renowned for its natural beauty and popular with hikers and climbers.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Dyfed-Powys Police were contacted by the ambulance service around 4:25pm, Thursday, February 12, reporting concerns for the welfare of three individuals at St Govan’s Head, Pembrokeshire.

“Officers were deployed to the location alongside multiple other agencies.

“Two were taken to hospital for treatment for injuries not believed to be life threatening.

“Sadly, one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious, their next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with the family.”
