In what appears to be Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s initiative to address financial misconduct and administrative negligence, he has taken decisive action by ordering the immediate suspension of the Rector and Bursar of Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, for a period of six months.
This action may be related to the allegations of administrative misconduct and financial irregularities involving the Rector.
The Governor, acting in his role as Visitor to the institution, also confirmed the prior suspension of the Registrar by the Polytechnic’s Governing Council, indicating a significant overhaul at the institution.
As stated in a release signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu, the suspension aims to facilitate a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the allegations against the principal officers.
“This measure is designed to ensure a transparent and independent inquiry into issues related to administrative errors and financial violations as reported by the Governing Council,” the statement partially noted.
During this period, the Governor has instructed the Deputy Rector to assume the responsibilities of Acting Rector, while the most senior accountant in the Bursary Department will take on the role of Acting Bursar for the duration of the suspensions.
