Controversial Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, stated that Nigerians must learn to coexist with the Fulani herdsmen.

Gumi expressed this viewpoint in a video shared on X, asserting that the herdsmen are an integral part of Nigeria and will not be leaving.

The cleric emphasized that no one can expel them, just as they cannot drive anyone away, highlighting that they are neighbors and should not be labeled as adversaries.

He warned that if Nigeria were to mistakenly view them as enemies, it would lead to disastrous consequences for the nation.

The retired army officer further elaborated that real enemies could exploit this division, as they are already aware of the nation's vulnerabilities.

“They are not going anywhere. They are part of us, and we are part of them. We must learn to live together and should never consider them as enemies.

“Your true enemy will manipulate your neighbor against you, and no one knows your secrets better than your neighbor.

“They are aware of your comings and goings. Therefore, we should never let herdsmen become our adversaries,” Gumi stated.
