The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has said the newly validated National Migration Policy, 2025, will strengthen border control and boost national security.
The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mrs Kemi Nanna Nandap, made this known during the launch of a nationwide sensitisation campaign on the policy in Dutse, Jigawa State.
The event, themed “Enhancing Awareness for Effective Migration Management and Border Governance,” took place at the NIS headquarters in the state.
Represented by the Jigawa State Controller of Immigration, T.A. Musa, Nandap explained that the updated policy provides a stronger and more coordinated framework for protecting Nigeria’s borders while also supporting lawful movement for trade, tourism, and investment.
She emphasised that the effectiveness of the policy will depend largely on proper implementation, noting that it requires dedication, professionalism, and adaptability from officers across all commands.
Nandap also reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to developing a migration system that is secure, efficient, and humane, in line with national development goals.
