REACHING down to pick up her teeth, grandmother, Kelly Prosser, 42, held a hand to her mouth and gasped in horror.

She had just been violently by a stranger and the results were brutal – her two front teeth were missing, lying in a bloody pool on the ground.

Furthermore, her nose was broken and she had whiplash following the completely unprovoked attack.

Seconds earlier Kelly had been enjoying a relaxing evening with her family and close friends at a caravan park in Porthcaw, .

She’d asked nearby Shawna Miller, 29, to quieten down as her grandson was sleeping close by.

But Miller had reacted badly and carried out the frenzied attack – smashing Kelly’s head against a and knocking out her two front teeth.

Now, health professional Kelly, from Maesteg, South Wales, is speaking out for the first time.

Recounting the day of the attack, March 25, 2025, she says: “I cannot put into words the horror I endured. It has turned my life upside down in so many ways.

“All I did was ask that woman to quieten down a bit because she was being really noisy. My young grandson was asleep close by. I just didn’t want her to wake him up.

“I’d gone to the caravan site for a few days to recuperate after being in hospital. It was meant to be a time to rest but it turned into a living nightmare.

“All hell broke loose that night. There was no warning or build up, I didn’t see it coming at all. Her attack came out of nowhere.”

She says while Miller knew her friends she was a “total stranger” to her. She didn’t think anything of it when she asked if she could please be quiet.

She says: “But she went crazy, grabbed my head and smashed it really hard against the caravan. It all happened so fast. I remember the crunching sound of my teeth, I could taste warm blood on my tongue. I put my hand to my lips and realised there was a gap in the front of my mouth.

“The pain was awful and tore through my face and cheek. I was completely dazed and disoriented and staggered to my feet with my two front teeth in my hand.”

Kelly was taken to A&E at a local .

She explains: “I was given morphine because I was in so much pain after the attack. Not only had my two front teeth been knocked out, I’d suffered a broken nose as well as a whiplash injury and bruising to my face and cheek.”

Kelly was also given emergency dental treatment

“I couldn’t get out of bed for a week after the attack because I was so traumatised and in a great deal of pain,” she says. “I had to take eight months off work because my mental health was so badly affected by the attack.

“Thankfully I’ve got a great family and partner and they have been so supportive and helped me get through the last year but it hasn’t been easy for any of us.

“I realise how much the attack has destroyed my confidence and my self esteem is in shreds.”

She says the attack has left her feeling “ugly and grotesque.” “I’d been with my partner for almost three years before the attack but I couldn’t bear him to look at me afterwards and we broke up for a bit.

“Thankfully we’ve come back together and are stronger than ever. I am also having trauma therapy and I hope that it will help me get my confidence back.”

In February this year Miller, 29, from Cardiff, appeared at where she admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm and was jailed for 14 months and ordered to pay £500 compensation to Kelly.

The court heard Miller had six previous convictions, including a battery offence in 2024 for which she received a suspended prison sentence of 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months.

“She may be in jail now but I’ve been left with a sentence of a different kind – one of constant pain and anxiety,” says Kelly.

“Eating has become painful and I’ve lost a huge amount of weight with the stress of it all. I’ll never get over what she did.”
