MANY people are feeling the pinch this Christmas – and one mum-of-four, who is on benefits, took to social media to share her struggles.

In a clip which has racked up over 380,000 views, Millie shared: “I got £3,900 from Universal Credit again this month and I already have next to no money.”
She explained that she has four children – aged five, three, one and three months – and said there is “always” at least one of them who needs new items.
These include new clothes, nappies, wipes and essentials.
Millie, who posts under @millie.2103 , continued: “These four children seem to be just growing like there’s no tomorrow.
“Now people always seem surprised when I say that I’ve got like barely nothing in the bank after they hear how much UC I get, but I think what they forget is that that’s me, that’s for the essentials like. that’s just your survival to live.
“So there is literally nothing left after I’ve paid for everything that the kids do need, which I know is my job before all of the people in the comments come for me.”
Millie, who has a and also makes “a little bit of ” from her videos via the , concluded that she thought the benefits system is “purely to survive”, and doesn’t make life easier as a working parent.
Universal Credit is given to UK residents with a low income or who need help with their living costs.

Despite her having £40 to live off at the time, she said she didn’t want to go into a food bank for help.
“I was doing the car boot purely because I don’t have any other money,” she explained.
“And that’s just the reality of it.”
The mum then said people expect her to get lots of because she was a young mum but that it wasn’t her reality.
“I know there’s so many other people that feel the same, because of stereotypes of young ones with kids or benefits,” she said.
Am I entitled to Universal Credit?
According to the GOV website, if you’re on a low income or need help with your living costs, then you could be entitled to Universal Credit.
To claim, you must live in the UK, be aged 18 or over (with some exceptions if you’re 15 to 17), be under State Pension age, and have £16,000 or less in money, savings and investments.
Other circumstances are if you are out of work, or unable to work, for example because of a health condition.
