AN ex-milkman has won a £4million Omaze country home – but didn’t buy a celebratory round at the pub because he thought he’d “dreamt it”.

David Roper, 58, said the life-changing call from the prize draw company has taken him from “milk float to mansion”.

The 58-year-old, who bought his winning entry for £50, hopes his luck rubs off on the team as they face on Saturday.

The former milkman said he kept it a secret from his wife Janny, 44, from Thailand, who was away at a festival and was convinced David was on the wind up.

David, from , said: “It was just another busy Friday at work, all I was thinking about was getting to the pub for 5pm and a nice cold pint of .

“But then the called me, and before I knew it I was the owner of a £4million mansion!

“Winning did mean I was four hours late for the pub, but I was also £4million up, so I can’t complain!

“I didn’t get a round in though, not because I didn’t want to, but because I couldn’t bring myself to tell anyone.

“I wasn’t sure I hadn’t just dreamt the whole thing, it felt so surreal I couldn’t believe it myself. The only one there who knew was my dog Rosie!”

He added: “But I’ll definitely get a round in now I’ve seen the place for myself and know it’s one hundred per cent real.”

The salesman also scooped up £250,000 in cash to help settle in his new multi-million-pound pad.

David is now the proud owner of a spectacular six-bedroom home set within five acres of landscaped grounds, complete with a heated outdoor pool and court.

The luxurious property was handed to him mortgage-free, with all and legal fees covered.

Perfectly placed in Surrey’s countryside, the Victorian mansion boasts three floors, a red brick exterior and a galleried staircase.

David added: “I started my own milk round at 21 and did that for ten years. I never dreamed I’d end up owning a house like this – I’ve gone from a milk float to a mansion!

“This time last week I was in the office staring at spreadsheets, now I’m standing by my very own swimming pool and tennis court. It’s absolutely crazy, what a difference a week makes!

“I’ve never won anything before in my life. I suppose I’ve just been saving it all up for this.”

Matt Pohlson, Founder and CEO of Omaze, said: “Everyone at Omaze is thrilled that David and Janny have won this very special home in Surrey, whilst also helping to raise crucial funds for Over The Wall Camp.

“Omaze offers people the chance to win incredible prizes, whilst also introducing charities to new audiences that they wouldn’t normally reach – it’s a win-win for entrants and our partners.

“We’re immensely proud that the Omaze Community has now raised over £150million for good causes across the UK.”
