The Surrey star led the 24-man field from heat one and broke the course record THREE TIMES in a dominant display.

His first run saw him clock a time of 56.21 seconds, with his second going even quicker at 55.88.

Yet somehow Weston went even quicker on run three with a time of 55.63 seconds to put one hand on the gold medal.

None of his rivals could match that rapid pace, with Weston’s closest challenger in Germany’s Axel Jungk 0.39 seconds off the pace after his third run.

The former taekwondo fighter is Britain’s first bloke to win Olympic gold in an individual event at the Winter Games since figure skater Robin Cousins was victorious at the 1980 Lake Placid Games.

However, it was disappointment for fellow Team GB star Marcus Wyatt.

Wyatt had found himself in seventh after the second run before he slipped down to 10th following run three.

His final run saw him record his fastest time of the competition at 56.24 to ensure he would finish at least ninth in the individual standings before he competes in the team event.
