A surge in warm air brings in another sunny week for the country
Regions across the UK will see temperatures reach up to 31C by tomorrow (July 7) afternoon, as a surge of hot air washes over the nation.
The sunny weather is expected to last into the weekend, as the forecasts highs of 34C for southern parts of the country.
This means Brits can look forward to at least another few days of lounging in the sun and basking on the beach.
Met Office meteorologist Becky Mitchell said: “We have got a heatwave on the way across parts of southern England and , temperatures are already quite high across the South East today, we could get 28C in London.
“The peak of the heat appears to be Thursday or Friday, 34C in the South East.
“By comparison to the heatwave we saw in June, this heatwave won’t be as hot and humid, but it will be a prolonged spell of hot weather which lasts around a week.”
Forecasting models also reveal that the hot spell could last until the middle of July, as high pressure comes in from the Azores.
A yellow heat alert warning was issued earlier this week for parts of southern and eastern and the East Midlands, by the UK Health Security Agency.
These were put in place on July 4 and will remain until the following Saturday (July 11).
The alert warns there is likely to be some low-level impacts or disruption to travel while healthcare services may be in higher use by vulnerable people.
