THIS is the shocking moment a man wielding a spade faced off with cops before being rugby tackled to the floor by a have-a-go hero.
The man, wearing a hoodie and trainers, can be seen holding the metal garden tool over his shoulder as officers slowly approach him.


Several members of the public edge closer to him, including a man with a black hoodie covering much of his face.
The man with the spade swings it towards him causing him to momentarily step backwards.
Another person then charges from off camera, blind sighting the man and tackling him to the floor.
An officer, with the help of members of the public, then pins him down as he jerks his legs.
Another person can be seen carrying the spade away as people gather round.
The incident, on St Peter’s Street, in Derby, happened on Friday (September 26) at around 1pm, with the footage shared on social media.
A man has been charged with assaulting emergency workers, with cops confirming officers were called to the scene to reports of a man carrying a spade.
James Birks, 37, of no fixed abode, was arrested and charged with five counts of assaulting emergency workers and criminal damage.
He was then bailed for the criminal damage offence, Police have confirmed.
Birks attended Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ on Saturday (September 27) and was remanded in custody.
He is due to appear North East Derbyshire and Dales Magistrates court on October 21.
