Prince Emmanuel Kanu, the younger brother of Nnamdi Kanu, has cautioned that those who are persecuting and ridiculing the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) will soon face consequences.

In a post on his Facebook page on Monday, Prince Emmanuel addressed those he believes are responsible for the conviction and sentencing of the IPOB leader.

He was also responding to individuals who have been taunting Kanu on social media following his life imprisonment sentence handed down by Justice James Omotosho of the Abuja Federal High Court.

Kanu is currently serving his sentence at the Sokoto Prison.

The younger Kanu warned that those who orchestrated the imprisonment of the IPOB leader would ultimately experience a similar fate.

He stated, “Those who celebrate wrongdoing and illegitimately target Mazi Nnamdi Kanu through mockery and imprisonment will soon face unavoidable consequences.

“The same collective action that led to the wrongful conviction of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will bring about their downfall. Their foundations will crumble and collapse, visible to all.

“Anyone attempting to manipulate the law to imprison you will instead encounter relentless justice. Their plans will backfire, and they will become victims of the very traps they set, ensnared by superior laws.”

Kanu was convicted on November 20, 2025, on terrorism charges brought against him by the Federal Government.

However, the IPOB leader and his defense team have challenged the judgment that convicted him, arguing that the Terrorism Prevention Amendment Act 2013, under which he was charged, has been repealed by the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition Act) 2022. Therefore, they contend that the conviction was based on a repealed law.
