The National Working Committee of the Labour Party has appointed a 19-man Interim State Working Committee to oversee the party’s affairs in Rivers State.
The appointment was announced in a statement jointly signed by the party’s National Chairman, Nenadi Usman, and the National Secretary, Darlington Nwokocha.
According to the statement, Fredrick Nwoje was appointed Chairman, with Precious Nwogu, Godfrey Otamiri, Anthony Wachukwu, Nyeche Wodike, Lawyer Thompson, and Nwiwagbo Harry serving as Deputy Chairmen. Chioma Atandikiari was named Secretary.
Other members of the committee include Chinedu Christian Anele and Bright Odum as Assistant Secretaries; Sampson Nwoka as Financial Secretary; Afoma Jonathan as Treasurer; Dr. Victor Tubo as Publicity Secretary; Onusaka Saineimi as Youth Leader; Bekenwari Bob-Manual as Women Leader; Akahaa Egonu as Deputy Women Leader; Ojukwu Christian as Auditor; Mills Orlu Orlu as Legal Adviser; and Ogoya Princewill as Organising Secretary.
The statement said the interim leadership is expected to begin the process of rebuilding and strengthening the party in Rivers State.
Recall that on 21 January 2026, the Federal High Court in Abuja ruled that Nenadi Usman is the lawful leader of the Labour Party and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to recognize her leadership.
On 30 January 2026, INEC subsequently listed Usman as the caretaker national chairman of the party on its official website. The electoral body also reaffirmed her recognition last week.
However, the Julius Abure faction of the party rejected the court judgment and announced plans to appeal the ruling.
