The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, has announced that the institution has uncovered a syndicate producing fake results. This revelation has resulted in the suspension of five staff members, including a Deputy Registrar.
At a press briefing in Lokoja on Wednesday, Professor Ogbo characterized the situation as a serious threat to the Polytechnic’s reputation and integrity.
He clarified that the fraudulent network was revealed following a collaborative investigation conducted by the school's Admission, ICT, and Security Units. The investigation uncovered that certain students, former students, and staff members had been falsifying National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) results for financial gain.
He mentioned that while five staff members have already been suspended, some suspects, including a man named Dominic Egwuda, are still at large.
“We will not permit anyone to tarnish the reputation of Kogi State Polytechnic. All involved will face disciplinary measures and legal action,” he stated.
The Rector emphasized that his administration remains committed to upholding high standards and fostering integrity within the institution.
“Our dedication to transparency and accountability is unwavering. We will continue to cleanse the system to ensure that only genuine efforts and hard work are acknowledged,” he concluded.
