It was yesterday reported that Malik is an asylum seeker who was born in Pakistan and lived in Italy, Germany and before coming to the UK.
A reporting restriction was put in place in September last year preventing any mention of the Pakistani national’s status until the trial had concluded.
Reform MP , who first exposed Malik as an asylum seeker when he was arrested, has now slammed the decision to gag the press.
He said: “It’s obvious that the and the whole judiciary were very reluctant to allow the public the true identity of this vile creature.
“The public deserves better which is why I exposed the truth.”
Mr Anderson claimed he had been asked not to publicise the case by police for fear of jeopardising the prosecution.
His posts triggered an anti-immigration protest in Sutton-in-Ashfield, with Malik’s trial later moved from Nottingham to Birmingham.
Judge Nirmal Shant imposed the restriction until the end of the case to avoid a “substantial risk of prejudice to the administration of justice”.
Birmingham Crown was told the girl had been drinking with her friend in the park and was “drunk and obviously vulnerable”.
After her pal asked “look after her”, jurors heard the unknown accomplice raped her.
Malik then dragged the girl by the hair to a “secluded” area where he also attacked her.
Following the horror, he sickeningly asked her: “Did you enjoy that?”
The predator later spun a web of lies – claiming the victim had consented to sex and that she told him “I really like you”.
But in her harrowing evidence, the girl told the court: “I was scared, I felt scared of saying no.”
Malik has been remanded into custody ahead of sentencing on a date to be set.
Detective Inspector Nicole Milner said: “This was a large-scale investigation with multiple lines of enquiry. This remains a priority investigation for Nottinghamshire Police and work is under way to locate a further outstanding suspect.
“As is always the case for investigations of this nature, there are many people involved and they have all played a part to bring Malik to justice.
“I particularly want to acknowledge the work of Detective Constable Malgorzata Kacprzycka and Detective Sergeant Barry Haines who have been crucial in bringing Malik to justice.
“Above all I also want to acknowledge the bravery and resilience of the victim.
“She has shown great courage throughout and helped us to build a very strong case against Malik, whose version of events lacked credibility from the start.
“As a result of her evidence, the jury was able to see through his lies and to convict him on two counts of rape.
“We will now continue with our relentless pursuit of the other suspect identified in this case.”
