The Joint Health Sector Unions, JOHESU, have decided to suspend their planned picketing of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
This decision comes in light of President Bola Tinubu's intervention, who has established a high-level committee to address the unions’ concerns.
This announcement was made by the President of JOHESU, Kabiru Minjibir, on Wednesday.
It is important to note that the National Secretary of JOHESU, Martin Egbanubi, had previously indicated that the unions intended to picket their parent ministry, the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, to advocate for their demands.
According to reports from DAILY POST, JOHESU, in conjunction with the Assembly of Healthcare Professional Associations, initiated actions on November 15, 2025, due to the Federal Government's failure to implement the revised CONHESS and to address various welfare and systemic issues impacting health workers.
Minjibir stated that the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) met with President Tinubu on Tuesday night, where the issues concerning JOHESU were officially presented to the President.
“While the meeting involved the NLC leadership and the President, JOHESU’s demands, especially regarding the adjustment of the Consolidated Health Salary Structure, were a significant focus of the discussions,” he remarked.
