THE director of the next James Bond film is reportedly looking to cast an ‘unknown British actor’ as the next 007.
, 57, said goodbye to the role in 2021 release No Time To Die



With the position of 007 now vacant, the search is underway for a new lead actor.
Oscar nominated director Denis Villeneuve was confirmed in June to be directing the next film.
According to Deadline , Villenueve is looking to cast a “fresh face” British actor as the next James Bond.
This would therefore rule out several major reported contenders for the role.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter , he said simply: “I’m a Texan.
“My family and I joke around, I can play Jimmy Bond, but I should not be playing James Bond.
“Get an authentic Brit for that job. That’s who belongs in that tuxedo.”
In the 63 years James Bond has been on screen, seven actors have played the character.
Six hailed from either the UK or Ireland, while George Lazenby is from Australia.

“There are many great candidates out there, and I’m sure they’re going to make it a spectacle of delight.
“I don’t think anyone wants to see a craggy, 72-year-old Bond, but if [next 007 director Denis] Villeneuve had something up his sleeve I would look at it in a heartbeat.”
