was on suspicion of two counts of assault and one count of affray.

The former striker was marched out of a swanky Wardour Street bar in handcuffs, while one man was taken to hospital.

Witnesses at the time told The Sun they suspected Toney thought he was being targeted by thieves.

Toney, who now plays for in the Saudi Pro League, had only been involved in one squad under Tuchel, in June last year, before making a surprise return for the World Cup squad.

Tuchel was not happy with the attitude of many players in the June 2025 camp and had to hold clear the air talks with Toney before bringing him in from the cold.

After announcing his squad, the England manager said: “We had to clear the air after that.

“That was the first step to even start thinking about calling him up again because I was not happy.

“It was necessary that we talked with him again and clarified with him if he’s happy to come.

“After having another conversation with him and having very good feedback from his club coach and good feedback from the Euros in Germany, we decided to reopen the door.

“It was not a matter of his character. The level of training and the level of commitment was not where we wanted.”

When explaining his reasoning behind including Toney, Tuchel said it was “also a bit of a surprise to us”.

The German added: “When it came down to all different kinds of scenarios he was back in the picture.

“I had fantastic feedback from his club coach [Matthias Jaissle], who was my player [at Stuttgart], and I have a close connection with him, always fantastic feedback about his role there, about his ability, his fitness.”

Toney netted 32 times for Al-Ahli in this season’s Saudi Pro League.

But that huge total wasn’t enough to win the golden boot award as he was beaten by Al Qadsiah’s Julian Quinones.
