YG Entertainment has big plans for the year ahead!
On May 26 at midnight KST, YG Entertainment released an announcement video in which founder Yang Hyun Suk personally revealed the company’s comeback plans for BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER, and TREASURE—along with the agency’s plans to debut new artists.
Yang Hyun Suk began by announcing that BLACKPINK, who is currently gearing up for their long-awaited , would be releasing a new song soon. “Although we don’t have a confirmed release date yet, I think we’ll be able to announce news about BLACKPINK’s new song soon,”;; he said.
Meanwhile, BABYMONSTER will be releasing a new song called “HOT SAUCE”;; on July 1, followed by a second pre-release single sometime in September and a new mini album on October 1. BABYMONSTER’s upcoming mini album will feature a total of four songs, including “HOT SAUCE”;; and the second pre-release single that will drop in September.
Yang Hyun Suk also announced that TREASURE is currently working on a new mini album, with the release date tentatively set for September 1. After their comeback promotions in September, TREASURE will kick off a new world tour in October.
Finally, Yang Hyun Suk revealed that YG Entertainment currently has two trainee boy groups and two trainee girl groups that it is considering debuting. Yang Hyun Suk said that he is planning to debut one of the two boy groups next year, but that he is also eager to debut a specific girl group consisting of four members.
Starting on May 28, the four members of this upcoming girl group will be gradually revealed one by one this year in the same way that the BABYMONSTER members were revealed to the public as trainees ahead of their debut. (The first member of the group will be revealed on May 28 at midnight KST.) Yang Hyun Suk also shared that he hopes to release solo songs by the members of this new girl group next year.
