The Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE, led by US billionaire Elon Musk, has announced the termination of an additional 148 wasteful contracts worth $420million.

DOGE disclosed this in a statement released via its X account on Monday night.

According to the department, among the cancelled contracts is a $143,000 HHS contract for the “potency monitoring of confiscated marijuana samples.

The agency noted that the cancellations have resulted in savings of $198 million for the United States.

“In the last two days, agencies terminated 148 wasteful contracts with a ceiling value of $420M and savings of $198M, including a $143K HHS contract for the “potency monitoring of confiscated marijuana samples,”; DOGE wrote on X.

This development comes just days after worth $2.1 billion.

DOGE has been mandated by US President Donald Trump’s administration to cut waste across federal agencies in the country.

Trump recently expressed satisfaction with DOGE’s efforts, suggesting that the department may remain a permanent fixture in the US.
