Unity Cup: Chelle reveals expectations ahead invitational tournament

Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle says the Unity Cup will give him the opportunity to strengthen his squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September and October.

Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago will take part in the invitational tournament which will take place in London later this month.

All the matches in the competition will hold at the Gtech Community Stadium, Brentford, London.

Chelle released his roaster for the tournament on Wednesday.

The Malian named a number of home-based and fringe players in his squad for the Unity Squad.

The 47-year-old said he will use the competition to try out players in different roles.

“We’re looking forward to taking part in the Unity Cup as it will give us the chance to try out a few new players in different roles,”;; Chelle told thenff.com.

“It will help us strengthen our squad before the matches in September and October.”;;

The Super Eagles will face eternal rivals Ghana in their first game in the Unity Cup on Tuesday, 27 May.
