UCL: Barcelona suffer major injury blow ahead Inter Milan second leg

Published on May 01, 2025 at 04:04 PM

Barcelona have confirmed defender Jules Kounde has suffered a hamstring injury during their 3-3 draw with Inter Milan in the Champions League semi-final first leg.

According to ESPN, the 26-year-old is expected to miss the second leg in Italy next week.

Kounde is also a major doubt for the El Clásico against Real Madrid in LaLiga on May 11.

The France international will be out for at least two weeks.

He could return later in May for the final games of the league campaign ahead of a potential Champions League final against either Arsenal or Paris Saint-Germain on May 31, if Barça eliminate Inter at San Siro on Tuesday.

Until last week’s LaLiga win over Mallorca, when he was rested, Kounde had made 86 consecutive appearances for Barça since last missing a game.

Kounde was replaced by Eric Garcia against Inter and the Spanuard is likely to stand in for him.

Ronald Araújo has also been used as a full-back previously and youngster Hector Fort is also an option.
