UCL: Arsenal take decision on Mikel Arteta

Published on May 08, 2025 at 01:07 PM

Arsenal have reached a decision regarding the future of Mikel Arteta at the Emirates Stadium following the Gunners exit from the Champions League.

Daily Mail, via SPORTbible, reports that the Gunners hierarchy will not sack Arteta despite the side’s disappointing season.

Mikel Arteta watched his side as they fell 2-1 to PSG at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday and culminated in a 3-1 aggregate.

They traveled to the Frence capital city hoping to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first leg, but it was only but a dream.

Goals from Fabian Ruiz (27′) and Achraf Hakimi (72′) put the Parisians in a comfortable position before Bukayo Saka salvaged a goal for his side late on in the game (76′).

The outcome of the fixture means the Gunners would end the season without a trophy.

Arsenal have already lost the English Premier League title to Liverpool.

Arteta joined the Gunners in 2019 but has not been able to lead them to a major silverware since the 2019-20 season when they defeated Chelsea 2-1 to lift the FA Cup.

The Gunners have since then won two Community Shields, but have fallen short of landing the big laurels.

Daily Mail now reports that the club board have no plans to sack the Spaniard anytime soon.

He has spent over £600 million on players including the £105 million signing of Declan Rice.
