Transfer: Arsenal’s Partey makes decision after Barcelona approach

Published on May 14, 2025 at 01:40 PM

Arsenal midfielder, Thomas Partey has ruled out the possibility of leaving the club this summer.

This comes after Partey indicated to Arsenal that he is willing to reject big-money offers to leave the Gunners and sign a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.

Partey has already entered the final two months of his current contract with the Premier League North London club.

The 31-year-old had joined Arsenal from Spanish LaLiga club Atletico Madrid in 2020.

However, the Ghanian international will become a free agent on July 1.

Partey, who has attracted interest from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, will be able to join another club on a free transfer this summer.

Contract negotiations have been ongoing for the past few months and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is keen for the midfielder to extend his deal with Arsenal.

But according to the Evening Standard, Partey has decided to stay at Arsenal.

The report added that he wants to sign a contract extension before Arsenal’s last Premier League game of the season against Southampton on May 25.
