Tinubu may attempt 3rd term – Lawyer laments alleged crackdown on opposition voices

Published on May 07, 2025 at 06:18 AM

Activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju has accused President Bola Tinubu-led administration of cracking down on opposition voices ahead of his re-election bid.

Adeyanju in a post on his Facebook page lamented that the administration is after everyone including activists, artists, celebrities and others opposing the government.

According to him, the crackdown is aimed at silencing the opposition voices, which may enable the president to “even attempt a 3rd term”;.

He wrote, “Tinubu is coming for everyone one by one, activists, artists, celebrities, etc but clowns who love praising politicians every 4yrs still think it all games and jokes.

“By the time he is done, nobody will have the guts to challenge him or his government. He might even attempt a 3rd term”;.

There are reports alleging that the arrest of Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM) and other activists were politically motivated.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had on Friday last week arrested VDM over some petitions against him.

Although the anti-graft agency failed to mention the petitioners, it has been alleged that some political bigwigs may be behind the activist’s arrest and detention.
