Salah named FWA Footballer of the Year

Published on May 09, 2025 at 10:48 AM

Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has been voted the Football Writers’ Assocation, FWA, Footballer of the Year.

Salah garnered 90% of the total votes to emerge winner.

The Egyptian has scored 33 goals and provided 23 assists across all competitions this season.

This tally includes 28 goals in the Premier League.

His performances helped the Reds clinch their 20th English top-flight title and they are now level with Manchester United for the most ever.

This is a record-equalling third time Salah has won the award, having also been honoured for his efforts in 2017-18 and 2021-22.

Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, is the only other player to win it as many times as Salah.

Salah’s team-mate Virgil van Dijk was his closest challenger, with the centre back finishing second in the voting.
