President Federation Cup: Nasarawa United set sights on winning first title

Published on May 02, 2025 at 02:10 PM

Nasarawa United are highly motivated to win this season’s President Federation Cup.

The Solid Miners believed that winning the competition will serve as a consolation for their poor showing in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Nasarawa United will take on Nigeria National League (NNL) side Abakaliki FC in a quarter-final of Nigeria’s oldest football competition.

The game is billed for the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Saturday.

“We are not a pushovers in this competition. we have appeared at this stage twice in 2015 and 2021,”; Nasarawa United Media director Eche Amos told DAILY POST.

“This time around we want to reward the confidence that our supporters have in us and also give them something to be happy about before the end of the season.

“It has been very difficult since we returned to the NPFL, we want to stabilise in the league and also give the fans something to celebrate about which is the FA Cup because we can’t win the league and also we can’t qualify for the continental in the league again.

“All things being equal, we will have chance to play on the continent by winning the Federation Cup.”;
