In a continuation of the revival of fashion trends from the 2000s and 2010s, soft grunge is back! Graphic tees, ripped jeans, and leather jackets will reign supreme. For that effortlessly cool vibe that doesn’t look like you tried too hard, take inspiration from these idols. Grunge isn’t necessarily about buying something new â it’s about taking your oldest, most-used clothing and wearing the heck out of it to give it an entirely new look!
1. ATEEZ’s Mingi
True to the spirit of soft grunge, most of ATEEZ member Mingi’s outfit can be recreated at home. Take a pair of black jeans and some bleach spray for that cool splatter effect, and try out black dye artfully painted on a gray shirt for a unique Mingi-inspired look that’s uniquely yours.
2. TWICE’s Tzuyu
It is summer, after all, so take some style inspo from TWICE’s Tzuyu to stayandlook cool this summer. The soft grunge aesthetic generally sticks to black, white, and muted colors, and Tzuyu also rocks her smudged eyeliner. You can always crop your old graphic tee for some quick upcycling!
3. Jeon Somi
Speaking of upcycling, there’s no better way to breathe life into a ratty old t-shirt than by cutting it into a new shape. Jeon Somi also wears a classic soft grunge accessory that is really a signature of the style â a black choker necklace! The best part about this look is how customizable it is.
4. Stray Kids’ Han
A cool kid who’s been rocking the soft grunge aesthetic since before it came back into style, there’s a lot to learn from Stray Kids’ Han about fashion. It’s all about the details in his outfits, like custom stitching on a hoodie or a perfectly-placed ring. Don’t be afraid to try something new!
5. STAYC’s J
While there’s a lot to take in with the outfits worn by STAYC’s J for the group’s most recent comeback, one of the best soft grunge aspects of the look is her makeup! Smudged eyeliner that looks like it’s been slept in and a barely-there, cool brown lip is the perfect combo.
6. LE SSERAFIM’s Hong Eunchae
If you have a more feminine style but still want to stay on-trend, Hong Eunchae of LE SSERAFIM proves that you can do it all! Just style a simple graphic black tee in a new, cool way and accessorize as you like. Eunchae lets her black undershorts peek out from under a denim skirt for added detail.
7. Red Velvet’s Seulgi
If you’re serious about leaning into the grunge aesthetic, Red Velvet’s Seulgi is doing it right! Colorful tights under shorts is a great way to inject some life into otherwise monotone black outfits, and of course a statement tee is the center of the look. Plus, her makeup game is just too good!
