Abia State government has encouraged Muslim Pilgrims from the State who are heading to Saudi Arabia for 2025 Hajj to pray fervently for peace in Abia State and Nigeria at large and also to uphold the good image of the State.
The Secretary to the Abia State government, Professor Kenneth Kalu, who gave the charge in Umuahia while speaking to the Pilgrims during a formal send-off ceremony held in his office, also urged them not to abscond.
Kalu, representing the state government, advised the pilgrims to remain law-abiding and reflect on the spiritual significance of the pilgrimage.
He emphasized the importance of serving as worthy ambassadors of the state while in the Holy Land.
“I urge you to remember Abia and Nigeria in your prayers during this sacred journey. Do not lose focus on the purpose of Hajj. Represent our State with dignity and do not abscond,”;; the SSG stated.
He also expressed gratitude to Governor Alex Otti for his support in making the pilgrimage possible, noting that the government remains committed to religious inclusiveness and spiritual well-being of all citizens.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the Abia State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Sheikh Ali Ukiwo, acknowledged the Governor’s goodwill and assured that the pilgrims would not betray the trust placed in them.
“The Governor has shown great support to the Muslim community. We are committed to upholding that trust and will represent Abia with honour,”;; Sheikh Ukiwo said.
The leader of the Northern Community in Abia State and head of the 2025 Hajj contingent, Sarki Yaro Danladi, also expressed joy over the opportunity, pledging continued prayers for the prosperity of the state and the nation.
