PDP ex-guber candidate reveals kind of politics needed in Lagos

Published on May 21, 2025 at 08:40 AM

The 2023 Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran aka Jandor, has said the state should practice politics that allows leaders to engage constructively irrespective of party affiliation.

Jandor made the remark while describing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as a gentle man.

He spoke during his visit to Sanwo-Olu at the state’s Government House on Tuesday.

Speaking with journalists after the visit, the former governorship candidate, said he came to officially notify the governor of his return to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Recently, Jandor announced his return to the APC while addressing his followers in the Ojo area of the state, after he resigned from the PDP in March 3.

However, Jandor decried the division within the APC in the state during the last governorship election in the state.

He said: “Lagos deserves a political climate where leaders can engage constructively regardless of party affiliation.

“I believe this gesture reflects the kind of politics we should be practising – one that prioritises the development of our state above personal or partisan interests.

“I am back to be with my family. We all knew what happened during the last election. It was because the house was divided. Now, we are together and we are back.

“The reception was fantastic. Mr Governor is actually a gentleman. I commend your composure throughout the campaign.”;;

During the build-up to the last governorship election in the state, Jandor had dumped the APC for the PDP where he ran for the governorship election.

Jandor had put up a stiff fight against Sanwo-Olu but he eventually lost.
