PDP days numbered in Jigawa – Gov Namadi

Published on May 20, 2025 at 09:31 AM

Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faces extinction in the state as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares to reclaim all three National Assembly seats currently held by the opposition.

The governor made the statement during the “Government’s Citizen Engagement”;; (Gwamnati Da Jama’a) event held in Dutse Local Government Area, emphasizing the impact of APC-led development projects at both state and federal levels on the social and economic lives of Jigawa citizens.

Namadi highlighted the success of his administration’s people-driven policies and noted a rising confidence in the APC across Jigawa, especially within the Central Senatorial Zone, where voters had mistakenly elected PDP candidates in the 2023 elections.

“The people of Jigawa Central Senatorial Zone, Buji/Birnin Kudu Federal Constituency, and Dutse/Kiyawa Constituency have expressed their disappointment in the PDP lawmakers representing them, describing their tenure as a total failure,”;; the governor said.

“These constituencies have vowed to vote them out and end PDP’s presence in the zone and the state by 2027.”;;

He credited the growing support for APC to the party’s performance, stressing that the government’s achievements serve as the benchmark by which the people judge their leaders.

“Our performance is our yardstick, and the people of Jigawa are measuring us and our great party by the results we deliver. We are pleased to be gaining more ground and confidence day by day through our sincere commitment to the wellbeing of our citizens,”;; Namadi added.

Expressing gratitude to the people of Dutse for their loyalty and cooperation, the governor reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to inclusive development and citizen-focused governance.

Namadi also conveyed assurances from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding key infrastructure projects in Jigawa, including the completion of the Greater Dutse water project, ongoing progress on the Maradi-Dutse railway line, and the re-award and continuation of the Kano-Maiduguri highway project.
