As part of activities to mark 2025 World Fire Fighters Day, the Ogun Fire Services on Monday, extended its sensitisation to schools, parks, markets In the state on causes, precautions, and prevention of fire outbreaks.
Speaking with Journalists during an endurance trek in Abeokuta, Director of Fire Services, Fatai Adefala, said the agency would not relent at ensuring necessary enlightenment on precautions like proper installation of wires, procurement of fire extinguishers as well as people approaches towards fire in case of outbreak.
Adefala represented by Area Commander, Isheri, Akinwande Abiodun added that the three days sensitisation programme was to commemorate fire fighters heroes who lost their lives in the course of protecting lives and property of people across the world.
He advised residents to adhere strictly to all rudiments and to adequately maintain gas cylinders and switch off electrical appliances where necessary, adding that the fire service emergency toll line is 112.
Reacting, Chairman, Ogun State Parks Management, Asero Unit, Mr. Idowu Oyeku and representative of Iyaloja of Omida market, Mrs Abisoye Kodaolu appreciated the agency for the enlightenment on fire outbreak, promising to cascade the knowledge gained to others and procure necessary fire-fighting gadgets.
Among the locations visited were Egba Comprehensive High School Asero, Asero High School, Kuto Motor Park, Omida and Sapon Markets among others.
