Former federal lawmaker and 2023 Rivers State governorship aspirant, Farah Dagogo, has commended workers in both the public and private sectors, describing them as the driving force behind Nigeria’s growth and development.

In a statement issued to commemorate the 2025 International Workers’ Day, Dagogo acknowledged the unwavering contributions of Nigerian workers, noting that their dedication continues to sustain the country’s key sectors despite prevailing socio-economic challenges.

He encouraged workers, particularly those in hazardous or strenuous environments, to remain resilient, assuring them that their efforts are recognized and valued.

Dagogo underscored the importance of aligning worker’s welfare with current economic realities, stressing that it is the responsibility of all employers, both public and private, to ensure that employee well-being remains a top priority.

He stated, “Workers remain the bedrock of any society. Their sacrifice, dedication, and professionalism deserve our deepest appreciation.

“In the face of daunting challenges, Nigerian workers have continued to rise to the occasion. The general populace is truly in your debt.”;

Reflecting on the broader national context, Dagogo added, “Government policies in recent years have exposed the decay in critical sectors and infrastructure.

“A comprehensive and aggressive reform agenda must now be a national priority. Health, education, security, and other vital areas require urgent revitalization.”;

He urged all levels of government to make deliberate investments in worker welfare and to adopt development strategies that genuinely address the needs of the country’s workforce.

Dagogo also expressed personal appreciation to the employees under his management, reaffirming his commitment to continually improving their working conditions.

He encouraged Nigerian workers to remain hopeful and prayerful for the nation’s progress and for divine wisdom to guide the country’s leaders.

“As we mark another Workers’ Day amid severe economic pressures, I advocate for improved welfare packages that reflect the courage and sacrifices made daily by our workforce. Their safety, stability, and livelihoods must be protected.”;

“As an employer of labour, I know the importance of acknowledging and supporting workers. I regularly review and enhance the welfare of my staff in appreciation of their contributions. This is my modest way of saying ‘thank you’ for their invaluable service”;, he added.
