Mass shootings: US Senator Schiff files federal bill on assault weapons ban

Published on April 30, 2025 at 03:49 PM

United States Senator, Adam Schiff, has filed a bill for the enactment of a law that would ban assault weapons.

Senator Schiff disclosed this in a viral video he released on his official X account on Wednesday.

He explained that the bill, titled, ‘Assault Weapon Ban of 2025,’ will ban the sales, manufacturing, import and transport of military-style assault weapons into the US.

According to him, the bill is designed as a way to prevent the reoccurrence of mass shootings, which has led to the death of hundreds of Americans.

“Today I will be introducing the assault weapon ban of 2025, a bill that will ban the sales, manufacturing, import, and transport of military-style assault weapons,”; he said.

He continued, “Since 2006 there have been 481 mass shooting involving assault weapons. Hundreds of Americans have been killed in these mass shootings. This bill is a way to attack that massive threat to our safety and security.”;

This comes amid calls for federal legislation to halt rapid mass shootings in the US.
